Welcome!  This course in single-variable calculus roughly corresponds to the first two semesters of college-level calculus in most US universities, and is suitable for self-study for various purposes.

The textbook, Calculus Set Free: Infinitesimals to the Rescue, is available in print and electronic format from Amazon, and in print format from Oxford University Press (the publisher), Walmart, Barnes and Noble, and other booksellers.

Recorded lectures for this course use various formats, but all feature the textbook's author, C. Bryan Dawson.  These lectures are available under the "modules" tab (see left margin, directly below "home"), organized by textbook section.  Watch the first lecture in the "course introduction" module for more information on the course format.

All homework exercises are from the textbook.  Assigned exercises for each section are available under the "assignments" tab (see left margin, directly below "modules").

At present, this course does not contain practice exams or quizzes.  An occasional lecture demonstrates the use of a TI-83/TI-84 calculator, but other calculators may also be used.  A small number of files using the software package Mathematica are also available, but the use of a computer algebra system is optional, and any CAS may be used.

About the author/instructor:  C. Bryan Dawson is University Professor of Mathematics at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.  Dawson and his wife Martha are enrolled citizens of the Cherokee Nation, one of the largest of the federally-recognized tribes of Native Americans.  The Dawsons have three grown children and are members of Grace Bible Fellowship.
